Miami, August 9 (EFE).- Former US President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced that the FBI’s (United States federal police) Mar- a-Lago, the businessman’s possession in Palm Beach, southeast Florida, and that agency’s official documents the mansion he was looking for.

In a letter to subscribers of his digital platform, Trump reveals that in his view it is a “political persecution and witch hunt” and seeks support to continue the fight for the “Great American People”.

The former US president urged his supporters to “please hurry” to donate “immediately” to support him “against the never-ending witch hunt”.

“Now they’re trying to stop the GOP and me once again, seeing that my approved candidates are making big gains and dominating every poll,” says the letter, which echoes much of what he said in his first Monday statement. Noting that “These are dark times for the nation”.

According to The New York Times, a day after FBI agents began searching Trump’s Florida mansion for official documents, a court on Tuesday allowed a U.S. House committee to access the former president’s income tax returns.

The Justice Department’s decision comes a year after the US Supreme Court ordered Trump to submit his tax returns to a prosecutor investigating his financial situation in New York.

The New York Times version of the documents sought by the FBI at Mar-a-Lago will, among others, contain classified material that Trump reportedly received from the White House rather than turn it over to the historical archive as required by law.
