The United States Federal Police (FBI) seized “top secret” files during the raid on former President Donald Trump’s home in Florida, according to court documents released Friday.
Investigators suspect that the former president, having illegally kept confidential documents, violated an American espionage law.
Several court documents were released on Friday by a Florida judge: the search warrant and a long inventory of documents seized on Monday by FBI agents.
Some were marked “top secret” and were to be “available only at special government facilities,” says the seven-page federal court order.
The court document contains a list of items seized in Mar-a-Lago, including information on the “president of France”.
The Justice Department asked a Florida judge to open the search warrant on Friday over objections from Trump, who is considering running for the White House again in 2024.

The former president said he would not block the spread of the order, complaining that he was the victim of an “unprecedented” political operation that he attributed to “radical left democrats”.

Trump and his lawyers had a copy of the search warrant and the receipt listing what had been seized by FBI agents.

Washington Post reported Thursday that some of the documents requested could be related to the US nuclear arsenal. But earlier on Friday, Trump reported on his Truth Social social network that the FBI may have “planted information” at his residence.
“The nuclear weapons issue is a hoax,” he commented.

Republicans defend the former president
Republican leaders unanimously came out in defense of Trump and some party members accused the Justice Department and the FBI of operating politically to attack the former president.
In what appeared to be a direct response to the FBI’s action in Mar-a-Lago, a gunman attempted to storm an FBI office in Cincinnati, Ohio on Thursday.
The attacker, shot dead by police after an hour of standstill, reportedly posted on Trump’s platform that he hoped his actions would serve as a “call to arms”.
Garland denounced Republican “baseless attacks” on his wallet and the FBI during his brief televised speech, while Trump-appointed Director of Federal Police Christopher Wray spoke of acts of “violence and threats. against the law reinforcement. “
The Justice Department does not normally confirm or deny if it is investigating someone, and Garland took the trouble to point out that the law was being applied fairly to Trump.
In a statement, the Republican tycoon said Thursday that his lawyers had “cooperated fully” with the justice system and that “the government could have gotten whatever it wanted from him” if it “was” in its power.
Trump also copes judicial investigations on his efforts to ignore the outcome of the 2020 election, including his role in the deadly January 6, 2021 attack on Capitol Hill by his supporters.
