The search and seizure took place earlier this week at the former US president’s mansion in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
A search and seizure warrant issued this Friday (12/8) shows that the FBI earlier this week found and seized 11 sets of classified documents from former US President Donald Trump’s residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. .
Last Thursday, the Department of Justice asked the court in charge of the case to make public the documents that allow FBI agents, US federal police to break into Republican homes, and justify it.
The breach of privacy is an unusual step in the US as the investigation continues, but it was allowed on Friday afternoon.
Trump denies any wrongdoing. He said that the items he kept in his house were not considered secret or secret.
Items removed from Mar-a-Lago by the FBI include 20 boxes, folders of photos, and a letter of amnesty written to the name of political strategist Roger Stone, a longtime Trump ally.
Information about the “President of France” was also received, but no additional information or details on what kind of material this will be.
Among the seized materials are documents marked “TS/SCI” – an acronym for segmented top secret/sensitive information – a classification level reserved for information that could cause “extremely serious” harm to US security.
Also, there will be four sets of “top secret” documents, three sets of “confidential documents” and three sets of “secret” documents.
The court did not provide further details on the content of these documents. This Thursday, The Washington Post said that material will include unofficially verified documents on American nuclear weapons.
However, the order states that Trump is suspected of violating provisions of the Espionage Act, 1917 US legislation that prohibits the manipulation of documents classified as sensitive outside federal buildings, particularly in the area of US national defense. the government exposes them to the risk of leakage or improper exposure.
The rule also prohibits the destruction, copying or alteration of official documents. For months, the National Archives has made public information that Trump improperly removed documents from the White House to Florida. Some of the boxes would have been recovered, but the articles would still be missing, which would have started the investigation.
It is up to the National Archives to preserve all material related to the work of the President of the United States of America, including potentially personal documents such as correspondence with other world leaders.
In a statement on the Truth Social platform, Trump said the items seized by the FBI were “all declassified” and stored safely at Mar-a-Lago.
He said he was ready to deliver the items before a warrant was issued.
“They can have it whenever they want – long ago, in fact,” Trump said. “All they had to do was ask.”
Monday’s search marks the first time a former president’s property has been searched as part of a criminal investigation.
Trump and most of his Republican allies denounced the move, saying it was politically motivated.
Trump spokesman Taylor Budowich accused the Biden administration of providing information from the investigation to try to distract from the police action itself.
“The Biden administration is clearly in mitigation mode after the President’s clumsy sting operation in which they confiscated photobooks, a ‘handwritten note,’ and declassified documents. This raid on President Trump’s home was not only unprecedented, but unnecessary – and “Now they are leaking lies and innuendo to try to explain the government’s attack on its main political rival. It’s outrageous.”
