A wooden road bridge collapsed Monday morning in Norway, throwing a car and a heavy truck into the water, Norwegian police said, adding that the accident apparently caused no casualties.
Early in the morning, the local police announced on Twitter that, according to testimonies, a private car and a truck had fallen into the water after the collapse of the Tretten bridge in the south of the country.
“A car ended up in the river and the trailer of the heavy truck was swimming in the water. The two drivers were found in good health,” police officer Terje Krogsad told TV2 at the time.

Television footage showed the car, partially submerged, on the bridge deck lying in the Gudbrandsdalslågen river and, a little further on, a truck on another collapsed section of infrastructure. The truck driver was airlifted to safety.
“We cannot know for sure if there were other people on the bridge, but, at this time, we have no information about other people who may have fallen into the water,” added Terje Krogsad. Opened in 2012, the Tretten Bridge is a 148 meter long and 10 meter wide wooden structure that crosses Gudbrandsdalslågen on a secondary road. It has two lanes for vehicles and a sidewalk.
