On Monday, former US President Donald Trump gave his first interview since the raid on his property at Mar-al-Lago in Florida a week ago. While the FBI claims to have seized top secret documents from his home, Donald Trump questions it. He also says that he feels “terrible anger” growing up in the country.

Did Donald Trump take and store secret or top secret defense documents in one of his private residences? In any case, the FBI claimed to have packed “twenty boxes” of confidential files and notes, which the former head of state is suspected of keeping in his possession in violation of theespionage law (or Espionage Law, in French), during an unprecedented raid carried out a week ago at his Florida property in Mar-a-Lago. A suspicion discarded by Donald Trump in the interview he gave to Fox News on Monday, the first after this unexpected raid.

In this interview, the former president of the United States offers his collaboration with the justice system, declares his desire to “calm things down”, warns against the growing “anger” of the country against its institutions and accuses the FBI of manipulation.

“An Attack of Unprecedented Intensity”

As the investigation seeks to find out if Donald Trump has “collected, transmitted or lost secret defense information,” a crime that would bring him underespionage law -, the billionaire goes on the offensive with the conservative media.

After his entourage maintained that the seized documents had been declassified or were under “executive privilege” – a provision that allows a member of the administration to keep certain confidential information exchanged with his advisers – Donald Trump this time chooses a completely different: hints that the FBI might be trying to frame him.

It is true that Donald Trump first emphasizes to Fox News that he is “ready to do anything to help his country”, to “calm things down”, indicating that his lawyers have contacted the Department of Justice to establish the principles of ‘a collaboration’. The rest of his comments, however, do not go in the direction of appeasement.

“The FBI agents could take what they wanted, or put what they wanted. My entourage was asked to stay outside,” he introduces, not hesitating to conclude: “The FBI could have put whatever they wanted in there.”

Along with this interview, Donald Trump even accused the FBI on Monday of having “stolen three of (his) passports with the rest” in a post posted on the social network he founded, social truth. He continues: “This is an attack on a political opponent of an intensity never before seen in this country.” He even sees it as a “third world” practice.

“There is a terrible rage in the country”

FBI agents roaming the rooms of his Florida resort unannounced, armed with his warrant… Donald Trump still can’t believe it: “No one would have thought such a thing was possible.” Punish, still with Fox News:

“There has never been an episode like this, in which the police were used to break into the home of a former president of the United States, and there is terrible anger in the country, on a level never seen before, apart from very dangerous moments. . “.

“Terrible things are going to happen”

Because this is the last axis used by Donald Trump: the former head of state continues to speak of the threat of a crisis, linked to popular fury. Without returning to calm, he observes, for example, “terrible things will happen.”

“The country is in a very dangerous position. There is a terrible anger, after all these scams, and this one more: years of scams, witch hunts and now this,” he finally said.

I’m not sure the cooperation between the Trump clan and the Justice Department will be very smooth, even if it does get established.
