The First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, will end her isolation after testing negative for Covid-19 twice in a row, her communications director announced this Sunday.
“After self-isolating for five days and testing negative for two consecutive Covid-19 tests, the First Lady will depart South Carolina later today for Delaware,” Elizabeth Alexander said in a statement.
Her husband Joe Biden tested positive in late July.
Jill Biden, 71, who tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday, had only “mild symptoms,” according to the White House. She was then isolated in South Carolina, in the southeastern United States, where she was on vacation with her husband Joe Biden, who did not test positive and was able to continue her activities.
The First Lady received the antiviral treatment Paxlovid, Pfizer’s anti-Covid pill, which sometimes leads to cases of “rebound” positivity, as was the case with Joe Biden.
The 79-year-old president had tested positive for Covid-19 in late July, with mild symptoms there as well, and isolated himself for about two weeks before finally testing negative on August 6.
