Officials in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, decided to veto public meetings from August 22-25.

The measure comes after President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of possible Russian actions as Russia celebrates Ukraine’s independence on the 24th, which will also mark the six-month period of the current occupation.

“Russia may try to do something particularly disgusting, particularly cruel,” Zelensky said on Saturday. Said.

“One of the targets of the enemy is to humiliate us, but we must be strong enough to resist all provocations,” said the president.

The Kharkiv state government will impose a curfew on the city of the same name, Ukraine’s second most populous city, between the night of August 23 and the morning of August 25.

Unlike Kiev, which has been relatively spared in recent months, Kharkiv is under constant harassment from Russian forces who have repeatedly bombed the area.

“Russia is an archaic state that binds its actions to specific dates, it’s a kind of obsession,” said Mikhailo Podolyak, Zelensky’s chief adviser.
