In new footage, released on Friday, Finland’s Prime Minister Sanna Marin can be seen dancing and chatting up close with Finnish pop star Olavi Uusivirta. Both claimed that there was nothing inappropriate.

Olavi Uusivirta, a Finnish singer, has come to the defense of Prime Minister Sanna Marin, who has come under fire since the publication of a video showing the politician dancing and singing with a group of friends.

In new images, released on Friday, the chairwoman of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) can be seen dancing and chatting with the pop star, who appears to give her a kiss on the cheek. When asked about it at a news conference on Friday, Sanna Marin, a married mother of one, denied the charges, according to the BBC.

“If someone kissed me on the cheek, there is nothing inappropriate that I can’t face or say to my husband.”

In an Instagram post, also published on Friday, Olavi Uusivirta said “hand on heart” to be just friends with the prime minister and that “nothing inappropriate happened.”

A drug screen

In Finland, Sanna Marin came under heavy criticism last week from the opposition, which denounced a dismissal deemed incompatible with the performance of her duties. Some Finnish elected officials felt that she had posed a security risk to the country and questioned her ability to make decisions in the event of a sudden crisis. On the contrary, several Finnish political figures have, however, lamented that this issue takes precedence over other more important issues.

The prime minister was forced to justify herself: “I have a family life, a professional career and I have free time that I spend with my friends. Like many people my age,” she said, she explained, assuring that she will continue to be “the same person.”

However, the Head of State was forced to approve a drug testwhose results will be known in the coming days.
