Reuters Trump tries to temporarily stop the FBI from investigating material seized at home in Florida 08/22/2022 19:52

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Former U.S. President Donald Trump asked a federal court in the country on Monday to temporarily ban the FBI until an expert is appointed to oversee the investigation of materials seized from his Florida home two weeks ago.

The court order that Trump filed in federal court in West Palm Beach, Florida, also requests the U.S. Department of Justice to submit a more detailed property receipt outlining the items the FBI seized from his Mar-a-Mar home. 8 August and asks the inspectors to return the items not covered by the search warrant.

“Politics cannot be allowed to influence the administration of justice. President Donald J. Trump is clearly ahead in the 2024 Republican presidential primary and the 2024 general election if he decides to run,” the document states.

The document said, “Law enforcement is a shield that protects Americans. It cannot be used as a weapon for political purposes.”
