“This four-month-old puppy is treated worse than the worst criminal,” adds the environmental defender, placing the scene in the town of Castaños, in the state of Coahuila.

“His only fault was approaching the town in search of a little water,” he adds, accusing the police officers present of not having done anything.

The governor, Miguel Riquelme, condemned the death of the black bear and announced the opening of an investigation as it is an endangered species. “The black bear is the living symbol of conservation in Coahuila. We must all respect his life and his environment,” added the governor.

The Attorney General of the Republic of the Environment (Profepa) has announced the filing of a criminal complaint against the perpetrators of the attack, speaking of an “aggression against biodiversity.” The alleged perpetrators run the risk of “a prison sentence or a fine,” Profepa added.
