Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told the UN Security Council that Russia bombed a train station in central Ukraine on Wednesday, leaving at least 15 dead and 50 injured.
“I received information that a Russian missile had been fired at a train station in the Dnipro area… At least 15 people were killed and about 50 injured,” he said.
The missile “hit directly one of the cars at Chaplino station. Four passenger cars are on fire,” he said.
“The rescuers are on the scene, but unfortunately the death toll may increase. This is our daily life,” he complained.
The attack was carried out on the Independence Day of Ukraine, which broke away from the Soviet Union in 1991. Granddaughter Wednesday also marks six months since the start of the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops on February 24.
Earlier, Zelensky promised that the Ukrainians would fight “to the end” against the invaders.
Currently, the fighting is mainly concentrated in eastern and southern Ukraine, where the front line seems clogged.
Other parts of the country are also frequently bombed by Russia, which uses long-range missiles, according to Ukrainian officials.
