At least 25 people were killed and 31 injured in Russia’s attack on a train station in central Ukraine on Wednesday night, according to an updated balance sheet released by the company that operates the country’s railways.
Speaking to Telegram, the company said, “According to morning information, there are 25 dead, including 2 children. 31 people were injured, including 2 children.”
The attack emerged Wednesday night in a video message sent by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the UN Security Council.
The bombing hit the Chaplyne station in the Dnipropetrovsk region of central Ukraine. Zelensky claimed that four passenger cars were set on fire.
The bombing took place on the date Ukraine celebrates Independence Day, marking its separation from the Soviet Union in 1991.
It also coincided with the day when Russia’s invasion of the country, which began on February 24, completed six months.
Although conflicts are intensifying in the east and south of Ukraine, according to Kiev, Russia frequently attacks Ukrainian cities with long-range missiles.
