The Zaporijjia nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe, under Russian control and the victim of several bombings, is “totally disconnected” from the network after damage to communication lines, the Ukrainian operator Energoatom announced Thursday.
“The plant’s two operating reactors were disconnected from the grid. As a result, the invaders’ actions caused a complete disconnection from the power grid of the Zaporizhia NPP for the first time in its history,” the group said. of State Energoatom on Telegram.
This plant, occupied by the Russians, is the object of bombings of which Moscow and Kyiv accuse each other. Several governments have agreed to allow a quick visit by the International Atomic Energy Agency, in order to “reduce the risk of a serious nuclear accident in Europe.”
