A US judge on Thursday ordered the release of a court document setting out the reasons for the recent federal police (FBI) search of former President Donald Trump’s home in Florida, though he agreed that the text be heavily redacted.
The document, which is supposed to detail the reasons that led the Justice Ministry to investigate and could reveal the identity of certain actors in the case, is due to be made public on Friday at 5:00 p.m. French time, federal judge Bruce Reinhart ruled.
But most of these elements will probably remain secret, as Bruce Reinhart accepted the request of the Ministry of Justice, which argued an “imperative” need to redact important parts of the document in the interests of the investigations. On Monday, he ordered that account be at least partially publicized, citing an unprecedented public interest in raiding the home of a former US president.

Authorities objected to its publication, saying it would require redaction “so extensive that the rest of the leaked text would lack meaningful content”. On August 8, the FBI raided Donald Trump’s Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago, seizing boxes of confidential documents that the Republican had failed to return to public authorities, despite multiple requests.
Donald Trump, who flirts with the idea of a candidacy for the 2024 presidential elections, does not have words strong enough to denounce this search, which he sees as the illustration of a “witch hunt” aimed at it.
On Thursday, the tycoon once again claimed his innocence on his Truth Social network, accusing “radical leftist Democratic prosecutors” of “illegally storming (his) home.” “They even broke into my safe, an unspeakable act!” he was incensed.
