The massive fire completely destroyed the place and drove the customers away from the tables. According to local authorities, seven customers were slightly injured and taken to the San Leonardo hospital in Castellammare di Stabia and were released shortly after.
The eighth person – 24-year-old Calvizzano – was transferred to Cardarelli in serious condition. He had extensive burns all over his body, but he’s not at risk.
The restaurant is located in the traditional “pasta city”, in the Aurano-Castello district and was packed when flames broke out after an explosion was recorded in the kitchen.
The fire affected the entire structure of the largely wooden business and some neighboring houses. At least four fire trucks and several carbines were put into action.
An investigation was launched to determine the causes of the fire, which was probably accidental. The area was cordoned off and the fire was extinguished. (ANSA)
