The flood that hit Pakistan continues to leave traces of destruction this Tuesday (30). A video shows a house being completely “swallowed” by the power of water.
Joyce Karam, Washington correspondent of Al-Hayat newspaper, an international Arab newspaper, shared the record made on Friday, 30th on Twitter.
The footage lasts less than a minute, and in the end, nothing is left of the sunken house.
Tens of millions of people are affected by the heaviest monsoon rains in the last three decades, which has flooded a third of the country since Saturday.
Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal told AFP that the country needs more than US$10 billion to rebuild the affected infrastructure.
“Major damage has been done to infrastructure, particularly in telecommunications, roads, agriculture and livelihoods,” he said.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Shari said “unprecedented rains” had devastated crops vital to population survival and destroyed more than a million homes.
Homeless people in the south and west of the country are taking shelter on high roads and railways to escape floods.
The Pakistani government attributes the extreme phenomena to climate change and claims that the country is suffering the consequences of irresponsible environmental practices in other parts of the world.
