VENICE, AUGUST 31 (ANSA) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky uploaded a video for the opening of the 79th edition of the Venice Film Festival on Wednesday, 31st, listing the names of all minors killed during the war. February 24.
“Names are important: it is a long list of minors killed in Ukraine to date,” the Ukrainian leader said, ending his message with the announcement of the 358 victims registered by 29 August.
In the video, Zelensky begged the world not to forget what happened on Ukrainian soil, calling the Russians “butchers, terrorists, murderers.”
According to the Ukrainian president, the attack by the Vladimir Putin regime is “a horror that lasts 189 days, not 120 minutes like a movie”.
“We should not play the game of Russia, which asks us to get used to it, to surrender to war. The sound of the cinema is important. Victory to Ukraine.”
The Venice Film Festival will run from today until September 10, when the winner of the Golden Lion will be announced.
In total, 23 films compete for one of the main prizes in cinema.
