The tech giant said Wednesday (31) that former President Donald Trump’s social network, Truth Social, will not be accepted into the Google store until it respects moderation of the content of its messages.

Google made the announcement after people close to Trump said they didn’t know why the app had not yet been approved on the Google Play Store, the online store that sells content for smartphones running Android.

A Google spokesperson said the company notified Truth Social on August 19 that the app violated store policies and required “effective systems to moderate user-generated content” on the platform.

According to the tech company, the app violates regulations that ban content that encourages physical threats and violence.

“Truth Social has told us that it accepts our comments and is working to fix these issues,” a Google spokesperson said.

Truth Social may continue to offer its app on its website or other online locations that do not include Google’s online store.

Trump backed the creation of Truth Social to have his own social network after he was expelled from platforms like Twitter and Facebook in 2021 for his supporters’ attack on the United States Congress.

Trump’s social network is in financial trouble. According to Fox Business Network, it has stopped paying RightForge, the company that hosts it, and is owed $1.6 million.

Trump Media and Technology Group said it has received about $15 million in additional funding that will allow it to pay its bills by the end of April next year.
