Leaving earlier in the week, the team from the International Atomic Energy Agency arrived at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant on Thursday.

“I was worried and I will continue to be worried.” Rafael Grossi, director general of the IAEA, expressed great concern after his visit to the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, located in Ukraine and occupied by Russian forces.

“One thing is obvious: the physical integrity of the plant has been repeatedly violated, not by chance but deliberately,” the IAEA Director General told reporters, “that is the reality we are facing and that we have to recognize It’s something that can’t go on.”

“We have a lot of work to do”

Rafael Grossi explains that, however, he and his teams were able to access the plant’s control room and talk to the teams operating on site.

“We are not going to leave, we are here and we will stay there,” assured Rafael Grossi, stating that the IAEA “will have a continuous presence at the plant.” “My team is there and we have a lot of work to do, with a detailed analysis of certain technical aspects,” he finally concluded.

The two belligerents have been accusing each other for weeks of endangering the safety of this nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe.
