A woman died at Louis Armstrong Airport in New Orleans, Louisiana (USA) on Tuesday, 30, when her hair got tangled in a bag-carrying machine. Jermani Thompson, 26, worked at the scene and was unloading a landing plane, according to US vehicles WVUE-DT and Nola.

Jermani was unloading her bags on a flight and was seriously injured after the mop roll pulled her hair. He was taken to the hospital, but could not recover from his injuries. No further details of the incident have been released, and an autopsy is not yet scheduled to clarify what led to his death.

The airport’s communications manager explained that the woman worked in the courtyard where the plane was parked and where passengers got on and off. It is also where planes are serviced and baggage unloaded.

A spokesperson from the GAT Airline Ground Support Company, where Jermani provides services, conveyed his condolences to the young woman’s family after her death. “We regret to support his family and friends as much as we can.”
