Lula, Ciro and Tebet show solidarity

In Brazil, presidential candidates sympathized with Argentina’s vice president, Cristina Kirchner, after an assassination attempt. Former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT), a historic ally of Kirchner, made statements on the matter shortly after the attack. Lula wrote that the vice president of Argentina was the victim of a “criminal fascist.”

“May the author suffer all legal consequences. This violence and political hatred fueled by some is a threat to democracy in our region. Democrats of the world will not tolerate any violence in political disputes.”

At the same time, presidential candidate Ciro Gomes (PDT) said there was almost no “blood rain”. The candidate said that “a cloud of hatred is spreading across our continent” and showed his solidarity with “this warrior woman”.

“The lesson remains for us on where blind radicalism can lead and how hateful polarization can arm the radical crazies or mad extremists. There is still time to save Brazil from the great tragedy of hate. Peace!” . . .

“We have to put an end to all this,” said MDB candidate Simone Tebet.
