Ukrainian state operator Energoatom said the last operating reactor at Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (south), the largest in Europe, went off the grid this Monday (5).
“Reactor #6 has been shut down and disconnected from the grid,” Energoatom told Telegram.
This reactor was the only one operating in six units of this plant. On Saturday, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), whose experts were on the scene, announced that reactor number 5 had been shut down due to damage to a power line after the bombing.
The other four reactors in Zaporizhzhia have been shut down for weeks.
“(…) it is clear that the physical integrity of the factory has been violated several times,” Argentinian Rafael Grossi, managing director of the IAEA, said on Thursday.
The industry has been the target of bombings in recent weeks, in which Russians and Ukrainians blame each other and raise fears of nuclear disaster.
