A video posted on YouTube shows the action of Massachusetts police answering a call to confirm a robbery at the home of a Brazilian couple found dead in the US. The footage shows the agents’ actions until they discover that the search will actually cover a murder and suicide. Aline de Lima Ferreira de Castro, 38, was stabbed to death by her 44-year-old husband, Luiz Castro Junior, who later hanged herself.
In front of the couple’s two children, Aline would have been stabbed five times in the neck. Soon the husband would go to the bathroom and commit suicide.
The Barnstable Police Department responded to a call at around 2:48 am on Friday at 66 Murray Way in Hyannis, the largest of the city’s seven villages. There was an 11-year-old boy on the phone who called the police to say that his father had attacked his mother with a knife and then locked himself in a bathroom in the residence.
In the video, it is possible to see the agents surrounding the entrance of the house, calling him Junior, the surname of Luiz Castro. After the children leave the house safely, they enter the first floor and search. At one point, one of the cops points upstairs to the others. At that moment, one of the agents starts yelling at the man as the group climbs the stairs.
“This is the police. If you’re in the bathroom, raise your hands. Raise your hands.” Later, the police shout out the name of Aline’s husband: “Junior, if you’re in the bathroom, raise your hands now.” Then the sound of the door being forced open may be heard and the screaming may cease. Two other armed policemen go up to the second floor.
Then one of them runs down to get a bag, possibly some medical supplies. The scene is interrupted by the arrival of the rescue vehicle. At one point, Hyannis’ paramedics brought a stretcher to the door, but they soon loaded the empty stretcher back into the ambulance and cleared the scene.
Towards the end, it is possible to see preserved images of the legs of two children walking alongside a man in shorts and flip-flops on the street in the residence.
Her husband would be arrested on Thursday
Witnesses interviewed by police said the couple had a fight in the early hours of Thursday. Luiz would later be arrested and released on bail to be released. He would have committed the crime in the early hours of Friday.
According to local news site HN (Hyannis News), the couple’s friends said they already knew about Luiz’s violence against Aline. When heard by the police, they said that even their children, who went to the couple’s house to play with their two children, said “she”. [Luiz] He tried to kill his wife.”
Journalist Rob Bastille of HN helps the Brazilian community raise money for the funerals of Aline and Luiz Castro. “We spoke with Talita Camilo and Jian Barcelo, one of the main organizers, and we learned that the children were not parents locally,” said a note on the website.
According to the journalist, the organizers reported that the children were not in government custody, and Patricia, a friend of their mother, offered to take care of them, making them part of the family.
“HN also learned that online crowdfunding organizers were speaking to the boy’s grandmother, who is now in São Paulo. One of the current ideas is to get an emergency visa for the grandmother to travel to Cape Cod to stay with the grandchildren,” the journalist wrote in the note. “But there are a few hurdles to overcome. They need a death certificate and the children need a way to get their grandmother to the nearest American consulate,” she warns.
