The failed attack on Argentina’s Vice President Cristina Kirchner was the product of “planning and advance agreement” between the attacker and his girlfriend, the official news agency reported on Wednesday.
Last Thursday night, Fernando Sabag Montiel and his girlfriend Brenda Uliarte, both detained, who held a gun less than a meter to Kirchner’s head while surrounded by supporters, “rely on planning to try to kill Cristina Kirchner and have a prior agreement”, says the judge. Text by María Eugenia Capuchetti.
The 35-year-old assailant and his 23-year-old girlfriend are accused of attempting to kill Kirchner, who was President of Argentina from 2007 to 2015.
On Tuesday, Montiel was summoned to the court to extend his testimony given last Friday, but refused to testify at both hearings; He would only say that his girlfriend “had nothing to do with the attempted murder or planning,” according to judicial sources.
Uliarte, who was seen by security cameras near the scene during the attack, said she was only accompanying her boyfriend.
The judge said the two had acted “taking advantage of Kirchner’s “defense situation” created by the crowd, continuing the text published by several agents.
The government removed this fourth section of the police, who were part of the security unit, considering that they were “not at the expected level”.
