US President Joe Biden attended celebrations at the Pentagon today to commemorate the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, and said family members deserve justice.
Questioned by journalists, Biden said his government is “working” to remove obstacles to cases still delayed and ensure that the relatives of the deceased get justice 21 years later.
At the Pentagon ceremony, Biden added that “that day marked a turning point in US history.”
“What the terrorists hoped to change, but failed to do, was our character of strength and resilience.” The US president also laid a wreath at the memorial for the victims.
The September 11 attacks were the largest in US history and were carried out by Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaeda. Nearly 3,000 people died on the plane, which was hijacked by terrorists and dropped by passengers at the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon Headquarters in Washington, and Pennsylvania.
