A British woman found her 6-foot-tall pet python after posting a statement on social media warning that the snake is often “extremely grumpy and aggressive”. Amy Towers said she was devastated as she escaped from her home in Leeds, England, on her pet’s birthday.
The emergency call was issued Saturday night, urging people to be vigilant when encountering the pet snake, a boa constrictor that somehow managed to escape from its home.
Amy was worried that the animal had disappeared somewhere in town. In her post, Amy described the 1.8-metre snake as “generally very grumpy and reactive.”
However, the owner tried to reassure people that the snake would not eat people’s cats or dogs, as the largest it could eat would be a “small to medium sized hamster or guinea pig.”
“It’s usually a very grumpy and reactive snake, but because it has to endure colder temperatures it will likely be very lethargic, unresponsive, and will likely curl up around itself if it’s outside,” warns Amy.
“Boas are not poisonous and are not harmful to humans. Sure, if you get bitten, seek medical attention, but they are not harmful to humans. Call me right away if you see them. If you find it and you don’t find it, ‘I don’t want to buy it, put a cardboard box on it and contact me and I’ll get it,'” Amy concludes her words.
About 24 hours after posting a few comments on Facebook, Amy finally found the missing snake. She had not run away from home as her teacher had thought. It was hiding under the kitchen stove. In an update to the post, she wrote: “Finally I found it. Sorry for anyone going through this trauma, I really did.”
