The Russian military said on Tuesday it has launched “massive” bombings on all front lines in Ukraine after Kyiv forces gained too much ground in the counteroffensive.
“The air force and artillery are conducting mass attacks in all operational directions against units of the Ukrainian armed forces,” the Russian Ministry of Defense said in its daily report on the conflict.
From the bombings in eastern Ukraine near Sloviansk, Konstantinivka and Bajmut; in the south in the Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhia regions; and in Kharkiv in the northeast, where Ukraine launched a lightning counterattack that forced Russian forces to withdraw from most of the area.
The Kremlin, on the other hand, accused Ukrainian forces of torturing and punishing civilians in the reclaimed territory of Kiev.
“According to our information, there are a lot of criminal proceedings against residents of the Kharkov region. There are people who are tortured and ill-treated. This is outrageous,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov told the media.
Ukraine said on Monday it had recaptured nearly 6,000 square kilometers of territory on several fronts.
