The reunion of a baby and a lazy mother in Bolivia last week sparked social media buzz after they were separated by a forest fire and threatened by escaped dogs. After the rescue, the animals are doing well.

In the video, the lazy mother hugs and shows affection when she finds the crying baby again. According to Reuters, they broke up during the fire and were not able to get back together.

After that, they passed veterinary examinations and in good health, they are released into the Chuchini nature reserve.

Professor Marco Antonio Germinger, a veterinarian at Beni Autonomous University, said the mother and her lazy child are in danger. “The people were helpless. The dogs were threatening them. The lazy mother left the baby 100 meters behind as she fled from them.”

The vet feels it is essential for the puppy to find the mother, as he is encouraged to look for her.

“Following our protocols, we had the pup call its mother and come back for her. That’s when they got together,” Germinger said.

Last week, Reuters reported that at least four nature reserves in the Bolivian plains were threatened after several wildfires involving three protected areas in Santa Cruz.
