President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Queen Elizabeth II. He signed the book of condolences at the UK embassy in Brasilia for Elizabeth’s death, but made a typo when writing “establishment” instead of stability.
Bolsonaro and First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro signed the book last Monday (12). In her dedication, the president expressed his “deep admiration” for the “woman of great personality” whose leadership has left a “legacy of leadership and stability”. [sic] to the Earth”.
“On behalf of the government and people of Brazil, I extend my deepest condolences to the people of the United Kingdom, the royal family and King Charles III on the death of Queen Elizabeth II. I express my admiration for a woman. Her sense of duty and dedication has been with the British public for over seventy years. and a great figure who left a legacy of leadership and stability for the world.”
Bolsonaro and Michelle were received at the UK embassy by Melanie Hopkins, charge d’affaires and Ambassador to Brazil.
The Queen’s condolence book can be signed by officials and the public at the official residence in Brasília and at consulates in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. According to the embassy, certain messages will be selected and forwarded to the British royal family, and the selected texts will be stored in the royal archives.
Bolsonaro attended the queen’s funeral
Queen Elizabeth died Thursday at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, aged 96. The longest-lived monarch on the British throne was succeeded by his eldest son, current King Charles III.
Elizabeth’s funeral will be held at Westminster Abbey on September 19. Then the queen’s body will be buried in Windsor Castle.
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro confirmed that he attended the royal funeral. After his trip to England, Bolsonaro will go to the United States, where he will attend the 77th UN General Assembly (United Nations). Brazil traditionally delivers the keynote address.
