Brenda Uliarte, the girlfriend of Brazilian Fernando Sabag Montiel, may have been the mastermind behind the attack on Argentina’s vice president, Cristina Kirchner, on September 1. Information taken from La Nacion newspaper.
Messages between Brenda and her friend Agustina Díaz were found by the country police and show that the 23-year-old was the one who planned Kirchner’s assassination attempt. Montiel was responsible for shooting against the policy, but the gun failed. Three teenagers were arrested.
A month before the failed attack, Brenda Uliarte told her friend that she had organized a group that would go “with torches, bombs, guns and everything” to kill the vice president.
“I will be the savior of Argentina. I was practicing shooting, I know how to use a gun,” he said.
“I’m going to have Cristina killed,” Brenda wrote to Agustina days before the attack. “I sent a man to kill Cristina,” she sent to Agustina, referring to her Brazilian boyfriend in another passage.

According to another analysis of Montiel and Brenda’s cell phones, the couple tried to attack Kirchner on August 27, but the plan was called off. Photos found on the Brazilian’s cell phone show the duo posing with the Bersa 32 pistol where the attack took place.
Fernando Sabag Montiel was arrested shortly after pulling the trigger of a pistol just inches from Kirchner’s head in front of his Buenos Aires home on the same night as the attack. His girlfriend was arrested three days later.
