Airline lost passenger’s orthopedic prosthesis for 12 days

A 26-year-old girl spent 12 days without a waterproof prosthetic leg after the airline lost her luggage.

Texas native Emily Tuite explained to Fox that her vacation was ruined because she couldn’t swim, go to the beach, or shower for 12 days. He cannot stand in the shower without a prosthesis.

The young woman described the days she was waiting for her suitcase as “traumatic”. The waterproof prosthetic was in a bright blue bag that she checked in on a September 1 flight from Austin to San Diego.

According to the passenger, the production of personalized prostheses can take up to a year.

After many attempts at recovery, Emily contacted a newspaper spokesperson and told her what had happened. After the announcement, she got a call saying that the airline had found the suitcase.

According to Emily, the suitcase was marked with information from another passenger and was at the airport in Provo, Utah.

The young woman denied that the airline had called the passenger and said she had the suitcase, but the customer denied that the suitcase was not hers. “By the way, I was panicking thinking my suitcase had been stolen.”

In a statement, Allegiant Airlines apologized for the mishandling of the baggage and said it would reimburse the passenger $60 to cover baggage fees.

“I spent the whole trip on the phone with the company trying to find my luggage. It’s frustrating to think there’s no other compensation for losing my prosthesis for 12 days.”

Emily isn’t the only tourist to have lost luggage on flights. Earlier this year, a family had a nightmare when their bags were lost twice on a Lufthansa Airlines trip from Dublin to Venice.

The passenger said the trip was “ruined” after staying in a single outfit for about a week during a vacation in Cancun, Mexico.
