The little cub excited the mother lioness Neliah as well as siblings Sabi and Kamara. But in the end it was Tobias who seemed particularly happy to spend time with his son.

The little lion, whose name has not yet been released, mostly lives with his father, mother and sisters in the first months of his life. It has not yet been introduced to zoo visitors.

The video of the father lion and his cub was shared on social media and won the likes of many people. Some were surprised at how affectionate lions can be with their cubs.

“He’s so precious! I love my dad’s interaction with him, he’s so kind from such a powerful creature,” said one user on Facebook.

“[Oh meu Deus] It’s adorable, especially seeing him with Tobias, who seems like a great dad. [a propósito]!” he added another.

Due to backlash, the Denver Zoo launched a campaign to get the public to suggest a name for their new lion cub. The charity has also sought donations to improve the care of the lions living on its premises and raise funds for initiatives to protect the animals in their natural habitat.
