Presidents, prime ministers and monarchs from around the world will travel to London for the weekend to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth and attend a reception at Buckingham Palace, hosted by King Charles the day before her funeral.
US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron are among the most important guests confirming their presence from abroad. President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) must go too.
A senior Buckingham Palace official said heads of state and other senior foreign dignitaries would be invited to meet at the Royal Hospital, a nursing home for veterans in west London, and “go in groups to Westminster Abbey.”
The funeral will be one of the most tightly regulated events in UK history as world leaders, kings and queens, and large crowds from home and abroad flock to London for the event.
King Charles and his Queen Consort Camilla will host a reception at Buckingham Palace on Sunday, the official state event before the funeral.
Foreign dignitaries traveling to England will also be invited to visit Westminster Parliament Hall, where the Queen’s coffin is located, before her funeral.
Immediately after Monday’s funeral, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly will hold a reception for guests at the nearby Church House as members of the royal family travel to Windsor for the Queen’s funeral.
