A fisherman in Maine (USA) hit the jackpot when he caught a blue lobster. Blake Haass, 27, told US Newsweek magazine that he had never seen such a “bright and beautiful” lobster and threw it back into the sea. And this was his second time accomplishing this feat.
“What we just caught: a blue lobster. I researched the odds of finding them are 1 in 2 million, very rare,” he said in a video posted on TikTok.
Following the post’s success, he shared a series confirming that it “returns” crustaceans into the ocean.
A 10-year fisherman has seen this blue lobster the most beautiful, but not the first.
“I’ve never seen a blue lobster this bright or this beautiful. We may occasionally see a lobster with a slight tint of blue on its paws or tail, but that’s it. It’s the first time I’ve seen all this blue! beautiful.”
Haass says he caught a blue lobster again, but not as colorfully. “It wasn’t as blue as I bought it 10 years ago. So I was very excited. This is probably one of the most beautiful blues and whites I’ve ever seen.”
Although a rare encounter, haas hopes to have the chance to find such an animal again. “I’m hoping to find another blue lobster, but they are so rare that you’ll hear one caught every once in a while. I know many friends and old fishermen who have been fishing longer than I have and have never caught a blue lobster. so I definitely feel lucky to have caught it!”
Haass admits that he dreamed of how to cook blue lobster, but chose a different fate: “Maybe he can and will produce more blue lobsters, so let’s leave it.”
