The conspiracy theory claims that Bodegraven-Reeuwijk in the Netherlands was the alleged location of the abuse and murder of several children in the 1980s.
A town in the Netherlands has taken Twitter to court for spreading a conspiracy theory alleging that the site was once home to a pedophile cult that worships Satan.
False reports that Bodegraven-Reeuwijk was the site of the abuse and murder of several children in the 1980s were first reported by three men in 2020.

The chief instigator, who grew up in the city, said he witnessed the crimes as a child.
Local authorities want all posts related to the alleged incidents to be removed.
The allegations caused dozens of people to go to the town’s Vrederust Cemetery to lay flowers and tribute to the seemingly random child graves.
Twitter’s attorney, Jens van den Brink, declined to comment ahead of the hearing scheduled for Friday (9/16).

Last year, the same court ordered the first three men to remove all tweets about the city, but allegations continue to circulate.
City attorney Cees van de Sanden said Twitter did not respond to a July request to find and remove all posts related to the allegations.
RTL Nieuws, Mayor Christiaan van der Kamp, said the allegations were “very painful”.
The three men behind the allegations are currently serving prison terms following their convictions in separate cases for incitement and death threats against many, including Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
