A security engineer from the US company Yuga Labs said that he accidentally received a transfer of US$ 249,999 (equivalent to R$ 1,313.34) by Google. According to a memo posted to the UPI website, a spokesperson for the multinational technology confirmed the incident.
On Twitter, the engineer named Sam Curry described the moment he noticed the exorbitant amount in his bank account. He emphasized that he tried to communicate with the company for three weeks but was unsuccessful.
The engineer explained that he has already run projects for tech companies like Google, but has yet to find newer business contacts for the multinational.
A Google spokesperson confirmed that the payment was a mistake and said the company is taking steps to fix it.
“Our team recently made a payment to the wrong party due to human error. We appreciate that it was promptly communicated to us by the affected partner and we are working to fix it.”
On Friday, Curry finally heard about their research and hired a Googler.
“Google really contacted me and I’m going to the bank today to pay it back,” Curry said in an interview with MarketWatch.
