Exodus-era burial cave in Egypt found in Israel

Israeli archaeologists on Sunday, Pharaoh II. They announced the “extremely rare” discovery of a burial cave filled with ceramic and bronze objects from the time of Ramesses.

The cave was discovered on Tuesday, the 13th, on a beach in Palmahim national park when a working mechanical excavator crashed into its roof.

Archaeologists used a ladder to descend into the large square-shaped cavern.

In a video released by the Israel Antiquities Authority, they use torches to illuminate dozens of ceramic vessels of various shapes and sizes that date to the reign of the dead pharaoh in 1213 BC.

The objects were funeral offerings to accompany the deceased on their final journey and have remained intact since they were placed about 3300 years ago.

A relatively intact skeleton was also found in two rectangular halves.

“The cave can provide a concrete picture of Late Bronze Age burial customs,” said Bronze Age expert Eli Yannai of the Antiquities Authority.
