Finnish border guards announced on Friday (23), that the number of Russian nationals entering the Finnish border has doubled since the announcement of the partial military deployment in Russia, but remains at a limited level.
In this context, the Finnish government anticipates that it plans to further tighten entry requirements for Russian visa holders.
Yesterday, 6,470 Russians crossed the land border, a border guard spokesman told AFP. Earlier this week, the level was around 3,100 Russians and the number of entries on Thursday generally looks like a busier weekend day.
According to the border guards, the number of entries into Finland clearly exceeds Russia, but remains relatively low compared to pre-Covid-19 levels.
The partial mobilization order announced by President Vladimir Putin seems to have strengthened the outflow of Russians abroad. The Russian government plans to call in 300,000 reservists for the offensive in Ukraine, but many Russians fear a much larger mobilization.
