Britain on Monday announced new sanctions on Russia in retaliation for the “illegal” annexation referendums held in the four regions of Ukraine occupied by Moscow from September 23 to 27.

“The sanctions adopted today target those behind this voting bullshit and those who continue to support the Russian regime’s war of aggression,” British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said in a statement.

Among the 92 sanctioned institutions and personalities are “(Vladimir) Putin’s favorite public relations agency” (IMA Consulting), as well as “high-ranking Russian officials who organize illegal rallies in four regions of Ukraine.” .

The list of people affected includes Sergei Yeliseyev, head of the pro-Russian authority in Kherson province in southern Ukraine, and a vice admiral in the Russian Navy, who left the Ukrainian Navy in 2014.

Sanctions were also imposed on the pro-Russian leaders of Ukraine’s Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia regions. In addition, four oligarchs were added to the negative list of the British government: God Nisanov and Zarakh Iliev, managers of real estate groups; Iskander Makhmudov, director of two steel companies; and Igor Makarov, head of the Areti group, which operates in the oil and gas sector.

Britain has imposed sanctions on more than 1,200 individuals and 120 entities in retaliation for the Russian invasion of Ukraine that began on February 24 this year.
