The new owners of Tannery Yomaowned by the family of Carlos Menem’s ex-wife, has promised to reopen the plant in the town of Nonogasta, Chilecito in Riojan, in May.

Since it went bankrupt in 2007, the company has not finished stabilizing. Today, met with Governor Ricardo Quintela oscar ghezzithe new owner of the tannery, to make sure of that next month it will be fully operational, under the name Curtiembre La Rioja.

“One of the main goals is export products in Europe, the United States and China, without stopping to provide national companies, such as the countries that make up Mercosur, in the area of ​​leather products ”, Ghezzi featured.

The entrepreneur added that he plans to “take advantage of the experience of staff who know how to work at the plant, and in the short term. generate more work depending on increasing production.

Quintela has been looking for an exit for the plant since last year, after former Brazilian owners left the property.

Under the name Bom Retiro SRL, investors came to Brazil a year after bankruptcy. They were later renamed Curtume CBR SA. The company went into crisis again, lost the brazilians and, last year, the provincial government decided to expropriate it.

The Nonogasta plant employs 800 people and has a daily production of 5,500 skins. Ghezzi arrived at the beginning of the year and, since then, has been talking about reopening the facilities.

“We met with Oscar Ghezzi and his technical team who are part of the national business group with a particular interest in reactivating the operation of Nonogasta tannery. Now they will begin the tasks of survey of facilities”, Quintela said in October on his twitter account, after their meeting with the businessman.

During the meeting, they both promised to start tanning a period of approximately 120 days.

Ghezzi is an entrepreneur in hotel, gastronomic and tourist activities. He has managed the Argentine Chamber of Tourism for several years and has also directed other entities in the sector.
