BAFICI 2022: Here, these are the films of the International Official Competition

Special days for movie lovers. The 23rd edition of the traditional BAFICI it’s up to us. And until May 1the cinema returns to the traditional rooms of downtown Buenos Aires, supporting the reactivation of Corrientes Street.

This year, the festival offers a program designed for all audiences: 290 films with more than 450 screenings, of which 223 films They will also be presented online, and over 60 special activities, in over 15 venues.

Referring to Global Official Competition, BAFICI is back to the idea started in 2021: short and feature films competing with each other. There are a total of 31 films from 19 countries.

There is a great presence of Argentine cinema: Eight titles of local origin, six of which will have their world premiere at the festival and one internationally.

“Fanny is walking”

In national films, it stands out Fanny was walkingan examination, by essay, of the life of the actress Fanny Navarrothe fanatic of Peronism fell into disgracedirected by playwright and actor Alfredo Arias -in his third film in 40 years- and Ignacio Masllorens.

Shot mostly in black and white, with rhythm, music and montage which refers to Invasionby Hugo Santiago (it is no coincidence that Masllorens made a documentary about the filmmaker), Fanny was walking It features the title character (played by Alejandra Radano) who roams the city while confused between joining politics or avoiding it and devoting entirely to acting.

The jury

The section jury consists of Spanish journalist and screenwriter Javier Angle, since 2008 the director of Valladolid International Film Week (SEMINCI); composer of Chile Jorge Arriagadawho since 1977 has worked on the soundtrack of about 150 films.

The Israeli documentary filmmaker and cultural manager David Fisherto whom the festival offered a spotlight screening of seven of his documentaries, and the Argentine director and screenwriter Sofia Morawho in 2019 presented his first documentary as director, Livingston Methodwinner of the Audience Award at Bafici that year.

The competition will award the following prizes: Grand Prize, Prize for Best Feature Film, Prize for Best Short Film, Best Director, Special Jury Prize, Prize for Best Performance, and Stimulus Prize for Argentine Cinema.
