Quebecers age 18 and older can make an appointment today to get a fourth dose of vaccine for COVID-19, the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS) announced.
In a Twitter post, the MSSS confirms that people between the ages of 18 and 59 will receive a second booster dose even though the Quebec Committee on Immunization (CIQ) has not yet made an official recommendation for this age group.
Prior to this announcement, only people aged 60 and over, people living in CHSLD or private residence for the elderly (RPA) as well as immunosuppressed people aged 12 or over are eligible for the fourth dose, if their third is within at least three months.
Earlier today, the government announced that wearing a mask will no longer be mandatory in public places starting May 14, with some exceptions such as public transport and places where care is provided, such as hospitals, CHSLD and medical clinics.
According to the acting national director of public health, Dr. Luc Boileau, this decision was made possible by the decline of many indicators, whether it is the number of cases, the number of health workers who are positive, the number of hospitalizations, the absence of students, whether at the elementary or secondary level.
