Tic and Tac chipmunks are back for new adventures at Disney+

The rats of the popular animated children’s series Tic et Tac, the risk rangers (Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers) were reunited in a comedy film that launched at Disney+ on Friday.

Their return, 30 years after the end of the series, seems more intended for those who grew up with them than a young viewer.

It is a satire, directed by American comedians John Mulaney (Tic) and Andy Samberg (Tac), in the original English version. We discovered chipmunks emerging in real life, after the cancellation of their joint show.

Tic has become an insurance salesman living an ordinary life in a dormitory suburb in Los Angeles, while Tac has gone digital – he appears as a 3D rather than a 2D character – and runs animation fan conventions to enjoy past its glory, and try to find it.

The two former companions met again when one of their former adventure partners, Jack the Strong, mysteriously disappeared. They then put on their detective hats to help him.

The film combines live action, computer-generated footage and traditional animation, inspired by the bold Who Framed Roger Rabbit, released in 1988, in which Toons (cartoon characters) cling to people. It will be available on Disney’s streaming platform starting May 20.

Launched in 1989, the original series was broadcast in French to Canada by Radio-Canada television.
