Negotiations between Quebec and its engineers stalled

Negotiations have stalled between the union of state engineers and the Quebec government, as their second strike is just beginning.

Meanwhile, in the construction industry, trade contractors fear that engineers will be the second strike very hurt.

Members of the Professional Association of Government Engineers of Quebec (APIGQ) launched a second strike on June 1, after they had been on strike for a month, then resumed negotiations in Quebec in hopes of finally reaching an agreement to renew their collective agreement.

Thursday, Marc-André Martin, president ofAPIGQindicated that no date for negotiations with the Treasury Board was planned.

Earlier this week, however, the two parties said they were close to an agreement.

Meanwhile, Bitume Québec’s business group said it was afraid the collateral damage generated will experience uncontrollable amplification in the absence of rapid conflict resolution.
