General Motors announced that its electrification plan will finally land in South America and, as planned, the EUV bolt It will be the first 100% electric model to be offered in these latitudes.
The Bolt will debut in Colombia in the second half of 2022, while from 2023 it will be available in other unconfirmed South American markets, although its arrival in our country could take place next year.
Through a virtual press conference, the North American brand reported that it will also offer two other electric vehicles: EV Blazer Y Equinox EV.
The Chevrolet Bolt EUV is 15cm longer (4.30m) than the Bolt EV and has plastics adorning the bodywork.
The announcement was made by Santiago Chamorro, president of GM South America, and Marina Willisch, vice president of Communications, Government Relations and ESG at GM South America.
The two executives also shared details on the launch program of these future products and highlighted the offensive that the company will promote in relation to the electrification that began in 2019 in South America with the marketing of the Bolt EV in Brazil.
Chronicle of an announced arrival
“The next model to arrive in the region will be the Bolt EUV, which will debut in Colombia in the second half of this year. Later we plan to offer other global models of the brand, such as the EV Blazer and the Equinox EVwhich are still under development in the United States and should eventually arrive here, ”said Chamorro.
The news of the Bolt’s arrival is not the first. Confirmation had been announced in 2018 by Carlos Zarlenga, the Argentine who at the time was in charge of the region’s General Motors.
The new Chevrolet Blazer EV will be unveiled in the United States on July 18, 2022. Later it will arrive in the region.
The Bolt EV also premiered even at the 2017 Buenos Aires Motor Show, the last edition that took place in our country. Its arrival was long expected in 2018 but has only been offered in Brazil since 2019.
It is important to note that the Bolt EV is not the same as him EUV bolt. The difference is in the cut it. The standard version measures 4.16 meters in length while the EUV grows about 15 centimeters (4.30 m.), With a wheelbase almost 8 centimeters longer.

The Bolt EUV has an electric motor capable of delivering a power of 200 horses and 360 Nm of torque that allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 7 seconds.
Chevrolet Equinox EV. It will be available only for the United States in September 2023.
It is powered by a 65 kWh battery, enough to reach a range of 397 kilometers (EPA) per charge.
GM’s electrical plan in the region will be completed in this first case with the new Equinox and Blazer, two models that will be launched for the first time in the US market.
The Blazer will be officially unveiled on July 18, while the Equinox will not be available in the US until September 2023.
Path towards a 100% electric future
The brand aims for a future with “Zero Accidents, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion”, committing itself to becoming a company emission-free by 2040.

This new global family of electric vehicles is expected to hit the market at the end of this decade. The collaboration between the two companies also provides for the possibility of large-scale global production and joint development of batteries.
