While the Government extended the ecological bonus to 6,000 euros at the beginning of July for the purchase of a new electric car, the bicycle will benefit from an additional boost, from August 15 to December 31.
A modification of the Amending Treasury Law provides for the reinforcement of purchase aid, especially in electrically assisted bicycles (VAE).
It is no longer just to supplement regional aid
The text thus provides for increasing the bonus for the purchase of a VAE, from a maximum of 200 euros currently to 300 euros. Your payment will continue to be a priori subject to income conditions (reference tax return per share of less than 13,489 euros), but it will no longer be conditioned to the allocation of aid by a local entity. The bonus has so far only allowed to supplement this aid (with the exception of the 1,000 euro cargo bike bonus introduced in July 2021).
However, as the Renaissance deputies explain in the text of the amendment, “there are few purchase aid programs outside urban areas, while the bicycle can be a useful response in medium-sized, rural and peri-urban municipalities : only 4% of the territories with less than 50,000 inhabitants offer purchase aid, compared to 100% of the 14 territories with more than 500,000 inhabitants”.
The aid can reach 400 euros for the most precarious households, in the first two income deciles. The latter may also receive help to purchase a “classic” bicycle (without electrical assistance), for 150 euros.
The “other bicycles” bonus will be open to folding bicycles, with a grant of 1,000 euros (2,000 euros for the most precarious), with a limit of 40% of the cost of the bicycle, under the same resource conditions.
People with disabilities can also benefit from this help without rental conditions for the acquisition of an adapted bicycle.
Conversion Bonus Boosted…for Bikes
It should also be noted that the conversion bonus, which allows additional aid to be received in exchange for the scrapping of a Diesel car or van registered before 2011, or gasoline registered before 2006, will allow the purchase of several motorcycles for a single-family home, while until now it was limited to one. This will make it easier for households to consider replacing their vehicle with the necessary number of bikes.
For the most precarious households, this bonus of 1,500 euros can be doubled up to 3,000 euros.
All these aids can always be combined with local aid. Ile-de-France, for example, offers purchase aid of €500 for a new VAE and €600 for a cargo bike.
