Located in Nîmes, the cheapest in France for E10 sells it this Thursday at 1,341 euros per liter. For diesel, the lowest price in France (1,587 euros) is offered by two TotalEnergies stations in the canton of Barbezieux-Saint-Hilaire, south of Angoulême.

This Thursday, both the new fuel discount financed by the State (30 cents instead of 18 cents) and the one decided by TotalEnergies of 20 cents came into force. Therefore, the average price of fuel will fall significantly this week. At levels we haven’t seen in a long time.

At the cheapest service stations in France, the price of the E10 is now less than or equal to 1.40 euros. In Nîmes, the TotalEnergies station located between the airport and the A9 motorway exit even offers the unbeatable price of 1,341 euros. For the record, since January 2020, the average price of the E-10 has always been above 1.40 euros. And what’s more, in all regions of France, the station that offers the cheapest unleaded supermarket is part of the TotalEnergies network.

Some stations offer diesel for less than €1.60

In diesel, the French oil giant also holds the record for the day with two service stations located in the canton of Barbezieux-Saint-Hilaire south of Angoulême that are priced at 1,587 euros per liter. But the top 5 this time includes supermarket service stations, such as Intermarché Domloup in Ille-et-Vilaine (1,599 euros) and Sauvigny-le-Bois in Nièvre (1.60 euros).

But these are exceptions. Because as Olivers Dauvers, the French retail specialist, comments in a tweet, when you compare the fuel prices of a supermarket with those of the nearest TotalEnergies station, the game is over. This is the downside of mass distribution.

This more than unusual dominance of the French giant, with its 3,500 points of sale in France, especially pisses off Michel-Edouard Leclerc. This morning on France Info, the head of the Leclerc centers also revealed that he had written to the CEO of TotalEnergies to complain about this distortion of competition.

Recalling that the discount offered by Total is “compensation for not taxing its profits”, Michel-Edouard Leclerc stresses that the oil group “offers a discount of 20 cents only to customers in its network, but not to its customers in our networks “. . Clearly, TotalEnergies fuel purchased in bulk by large retailers and independent pump attendees is sold to them at no discount, even though they are customers as well.

And to conclude: “We ask that you give us the same conditions… Leclerc, Carrefour, Avia customers, small gas station attendants who sell Total.”
