Governor Gustavo Bordet previously presented the exportable offer of the Central Region Singapore Chambers of Commercer, and met with Trade and Industry Minister Alvin Tan.
“We held a meeting with the Minister of Commerce and Industry of Singapore where we presented the exportable offer of the Central Region to generate knowledge exchange and have a partner in Singapore, in a strategic place as a platform to reach different countries of the Asia,” Bordet highlighted.
The Central Region also has great development potential. It has 31 universities, about 20,000 researchers and 76 public research institutes.
In terms of production it accounts for 43 percent of Argentina’s agricultural production, being the regional leader in soybeans, wheat, peanuts and corn; it has the largest dairy area in the country; 18 percent of national industry; 37 percent of domestic agricultural machinery sales; and has more than 30 value chains.
The governor of Entre Ríos underlined that “Singapore has one of the largest ports in the world, which redistributes and trades with the rest of the Asian countries, the main destination for exports from the Central Region”.
On the other hand, he highlighted the instance with the Singapore Chamber of Commerce. He said that “businessmen from our three provinces were able to meet their counterparts here in Singapore to To explore good business opportunities.
Bordet was accompanied by the Argentine ambassador to Singapore, Mauricio Nine, and by Ignacio Lamothe, general secretary of the CFI, an organization that finances and provides logistical support to the trade mission. The commission was composed of the ministers of the Economy of Entre Ríos, Hugo Ballay, of Industry and Commerce of Córdoba, Eduardo Acastello, and of Agriculture and Livestock of Córdoba, Sergio Busso, the Secretary of the Federal Management of Santa Fe, Candelaria del Pino, the Secretary of Foreign Trade of Santa Fe, Germán Burcher, and the Director of Official Missions of the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ramiro Velloso.
During his speech before the Chamber of Commerce, Bordet indicated that “participating in this turnover in Singapore means for our companies the opportunity to sell and market their products, but also the possibility of generating investments from Singapore in our provinces to generate more development in our production matrix and food industrialization”.
He recalled that “it is the second time that there is a mission from the Central Region to Singapore”, and that “we will have an agenda with the government authorities of the Republic of Singapore in which we will raise these issues so that the mission is successful for all parties “.
Among the main aspects of the exportable offer of the Central Region that Bordet highlighted, “food is the one that appears most evident, but the message we bring is that it is not only this. We have a lot of knowledge economy, a lot of technology, laboratories, solutions, water treatment tablets, a strong pharmaceutical sector and medical instruments,” she listed.
“The Central Region was established 25 years ago and has maintained a very fruitful interaction during all this time. Not only at the government level, but also due to the interaction developed by entrepreneurs, industrialists, traders of the three provinces and the participation of the universities of the three provinces with respect to the production of knowledge,” Bordet said.
For his part, the Argentine ambassador in Singapore, Mauricio Nine, greeted “Entre Ríos and the entire Central Region”. He said he was “very happy with the start of the mission”, and underlined that “we were received by the Minister of Commerce and Industry”.
He also underlined that they participated in “a launch event with many public and private counterparts, investors, potential buyers and representatives of many economic agencies who made themselves available to the mission to exchange all the knowledge and mutual growth possibilities that exist between Argentina and Singapore in very different sectors, with many different levels of added value in the supply chains of the various sectors”.
