When businesses shut down on Monday, no one thought this Tuesday would be a public holiday. No one foresaw what to do with the agreed payments, receipts or deliveries for this day, much less that amidst this entire private sector blockade, the AFIP would run until the 12th, an unprecedented fact.
Does the fact that the AFIP is open mean that you have to pay the taxes that were due on Tuesday 20 December, even if it is a public holiday and the employees of the companies who have to pay are not working?
“For guarantee collectionthe employees of the banks and of Afip will have to work until 12. It remains understood in any case this Tuesday’s deadlines should be extended because private sector employees have holidays. Payment cannot be requested because banks work until 12 if private employees are not working,” says specialist Sebastián M Domínguez, of the SDC Asesores Tributarios.
The accountant talks about taxes, like VAT, withholdings or receipts, among others. It is not expected that because of a holiday the services have to change the payment date, although it may be more difficult to pay for the holiday.
But it is expected in taxes. “If today had directly been a public holiday, no one would have doubted that today’s deadlines would have been postponed to tomorrow and even some taxes must be postponed from tomorrow to the day after tomorrow,” explains Domínguez.
The doubt was raised by the fact that the banks and Afip were excluded from the holiday until 12. “And the AFIP said nothing until at least 10am he hasn’t announced any changes to the deadlines and the companies are in a complex situation.”
The employees of the companies have not gone to work and cannot pay, or they have tokens to pay in the office, which is closed, or they have had to sell dollars to pay and today they cannot do it after 12, or they have had to collect be able to pay and will not be able to do so”, lists the specialist.
While the accountants are waiting for the collection agency headed by Carlos Castagneto to give some directives, they also point out to unprecedented fact: This year, for the first time, AFIP also separated from the rest of the public administration – to which the Government granted holidays on 23 and 30 December – and Your employees will have to work.
