Argentine airlines keep on costing one million dollars a day to the Argentines. These are the information provided by the state airline itself, which has been managed by the group since December 2019 La Camporàjust as it had been between 2009 and 2015.
According to these numbers, during the first 11 months of the year, Aerolíneas received from the state subsidies totaling 44,705 million pesosaccumulated in ten games from January to December 5th.
The official exchange rate is always taken, as in an airline the charges are in dollars purchased from the Central Bank pay various external suppliers, especially from aircraft leasing Y gas.
During these 11 months the exchange rate varied, from 110 pesos per dollar up to 169.25 pesos. At an average of 132.77 pesos per dollar (estimate made by the company itself), the airline received from the National Treasury $336.9 million in 11 months. Just over a million dollars a day.
According to company spokesmen, the 2022 Budget had predicted just over 72,000 million pesos to help the airlines, but that budget would be sub performedaccording to sources from the state company, thanks to a billing increase above what was expected.
According to the owner of the company, Paul Cerianibefore the Budget Commission of the Chamber of Deputies in November, the management of La Cámpora would obtain a reduction of subsidies.
The numbers presented by Ceriani indicate that in 2019, the last year of Cambiemos, the airline asked the State for some 667 million dollars, to which they went up $702 million in 2020 Y $650 million in 2021.
Compared to those years, this year’s benefits would end up being significantly lower. And by 2023 they expect it to continue declining. Like? At that point a controversy arises.
The Ministry of Economythrough its portal Citizen siteslogan that Aerolíneas Argentinas has already received in 11 months the whole of the funds I had budgeted for this year.
Those funds are $72.908 million pesosequivalent to $574.5 million.
It would not be all the funds that the company will request, since they still have to cover the expenses for the month of December, which they include in the salary line half prize end of the year.
Under the current government, the number of employees on the state line was declining, but slowly. Exceeds 11,000 people.
In airlines they denied that this was the amount of grants received.
“We did not receive 72,000 million pesos but the 44,000 million that we recorded. The rest is the matter of another body”, added the company spokesmen.
Although its president is Ceriani, both in the airlines and in the aeronautical business in general, the policies usually have the prior approval of Mariano Recaldecurrent national senator and former head of airlines between 2009 and 2015.
One number that will still be reached this year is the full picture of subsidies: be it $336 million, $574 million or even more, by the end of 2022 transfers from the Treasury to the state-owned airline will have exceeded the 2008 8,000 million dollars.
